Andy Holliday – Occupational Health Technician

Working as an Occupational Health Technician (OHT) means I get to meet new people across all levels in an organisation. It’s fascinating learning about how different job roles impact on people’s physical and mental state and being able to play a part in preserving and protecting their health and wellbeing is very rewarding.

With a background in the public sector, I’ve always enjoyed working with others and I’m skilled at building a rapport and putting them at ease. Good communication skills are key in an OHT role: talking and listening to people are important to get the most suitable outcome, and good attention to detail is also essential. I’m good at using my own initiative and thinking on my feet – I’m often working alone at a client clinic, so being confident to work with minimal supervision is a must have.

Choose OH is a supportive small family firm; everyone’s ready to help each other and I really like that. It’s important to me to feel like I’ve provided a professional service and made a difference to someone’s health in a professional, so having a supportive team helps ensure that I can do this while ‘going the extra mile’.
