Who we are

In 2006, a group of 76 GPs in Cumbria formed CueDoc Holdings Ltd which ran alongside the out of hours GP service.

Our managing director Sandra Holliday, then a training manager was given the task of researching and developing an Occupational Health business focussed on the requirements of SMEs.  Sandra’s research included attending one of the Cumbria branch CIPD meetings to seek views from HR professionals on their current services and what they would need from a new service. The business secured its first client in June 2008 and launched officially on 25 September 2008.

Focussing on the needs of the clients and developing and growing the service, the business grew and in 2011 it was sold to the management team with over 120 clients.

Still known as CueDoc, the public were still confusing the business with the out of hours GP service now known as CHOC (Cumbria Health on Call) so Sandra made the decision to rebrand.

Occupational Health can be such a positive contribution to workplace health and wellbeing for managers, employees and a business as a whole. Our team work so hard to support and guide our clients with proactive management of health and wellbeing and we started to realise that although there are legal requirements linked to occupational health, for many businesses working with occupational health professionals so actively is a CHOICE.

From this and our vision for the future of the company, Sandra decided on the name ‘Choose Occupational Health.’

Unfortunately our plans were put on hold, as our office building was flooded during Storm Desmond in December 2015.  Thanks to the kindness of some local businesses, we were able to set up temporary offices.  The business had to move four times in as many months in order to continue trading but the resilience of the team and the kindness and understanding of our clients was incredibly heart-warming.

In October 2016 reflecting on how far we had come, it was finally time to go ahead with the rebrand of the business and in November, we became Choose Occupational Health.

We now have over 420 clients, including some of Cumbria’s largest organisations. With our hardworking team including health specialists and HR professionals, we continue to provide the best service for our growing client base. Passionate about Cumbria and all the challenges this county presents.
