Counselling is a talking therapy that can help an individual deal with things like a mental health condition such as depression, anxiety or an eating disorder; stressful life events such as bereavements or relationship breakdown; work-related stress; low self-esteem; anger; issues surrounding identity.
It can be done online, over the phone or in person. It could be a one-off session, a short series of sessions or a long-term regular arrangement.
Here at Choose Occupational Health we work with a network of high quality accredited counsellors across the county, ensuring that your employees get access to the right help at the right time.

By working with one of our associates, an Educational Psychologist, we are able to offer clients a comprehensive plan of support and adjustment. Referrals may be identified as a recommendation following an occupational health assessment or the manager may be aware of a diagnosis of dyslexia and wish to offer support to their employee.

It is estimated that 31 million days are lost to musculoskeletal conditions each year! Having early access to the provision of physiotherapy can mean employees can return to work much more quickly – or not be absent at all! Choose Occupational Health provides employers with the ability to refer employees to high quality occupational physiotherapy quickly and easily and, in turn, helps businesses to reduce sickness absence levels and associated costs.
We work with qualified physiotherapists that cover the whole of the county. Appointments can be made once there has been a referral from a line manager. If an employee is being seen for a Fitness for Work Assessment this may require authorisation from a manager before the appointment can be allocated. DSE Assessments can be completed upon request.

Functional Capacity Assessments (FCAs) are specialist assessments, generally provided by a specialist physiotherapist, who will use different assessments and physical activities to determine a worker’s current physical ability to perform physically active work duties in order to help them perform their job safely, return to work or help to identify suitable redeployment options.
Due to the complex nature of these cases appointments can be up to 2 hours in duration and includes a detailed report to managers and/or occupational health professionals to help them support a worker with possible complex physical restrictions.

The focus of a psychologist’s role in the workplace is to provide effective support to enable people to gain meaningful work and stay in employment. They are able to offer advice for managers to help them better understand how to support their workers who have conditions such as Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Asbergers and Tourette’s Syndrome who might face challenges in the workplace due to the different ways that their brains function.
Depending on the specific situation we may be able to help you access a psychologist assessment and report. Contact us today on 01228 513687.
Significant traumatic events can impact on an individual’s well-being and their ability to actively engage in the workplace possibly leading to periods of sickness absence. It could be due to a recent event or one from the past that hasn’t been resolved.
Through the services of a local hypnotherapist clients can access support for workers who have experienced Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), achieving successful outcomes often where other types of therapy have not been able to resolve the issues.

Through the use of our network of accredited counsellors we are able to provide individual treatment and support to employees experiencing the systems of anxiety and stress. In its simplest form, mindfulness means awareness. Practising mindfulness offers a way to pay attention to the present moment, without judgement. Mindfulness can help to reduce stress and anxiety and conflict, and increase resilience and emotional intelligence, while improving communication in the workplace. We work with mindfulness trainers to offer taster sessions and structured courses for groups of staff within an organisation. This might be a group of managers or a team where helping the individual to have a better awareness of their thoughts and feelings can help them develop leadership skills, emotional intelligence or creativity and innovation.
